Composite Test

So, Blender 2.7+ no longer has the starfield feature I like to use in space shots.
Yet the cycles features of Blender 2.7 are worth it.

So I am using a composite technique to combine a pre 2.7 starfield and a 2.73 ship render. To do this in animation I needed to do a third hidden pass known as the matte pass. The matte pass makes a whole in the background (stars) I can insert the foreground (ship) into making a complete piece.

Tell me, how do you think I did mixing the three renders into one?

Very nice job, super fluid animation! The only qualm I have is with the stars in the first few seconds just appearing out of nowhere (however, I may have missed the Star Trek series doing the same thing. If they did, ignore that) I really like the shot you did with the Traverse suddenly accelerating out of the frame.
